SmartLight Analytics CEO and Co-founder Asha George is passionate about making a meaningful impact on the rising cost of health care. Her 17 years of experience in health care data analysis along with her academic background in epidemiology and biostatistics provides a knowledge base to expertly interpret statistical and clinical data. Her team of health care industry professionals has developed innovative and effective solutions to decrease employer health care spending waste. The team uses advanced analytics and evidence-based data along with clinical and claims expertise developed over decades of experience to deliver the most effective cost-reduction solution on the market, customized to the unique employee population of each business. She and her team step into the increasingly complex world of health care insurance and provide clarity, integrity and expertise.
Prior to launching SmartLight Analytics in 2016, George worked as an independent statistical consultant for multiple health care IT companies and directed the Statistical Analytics team at Emdeon, developing and implementing a predictive analytics product for Payment Integrity using prepay claims data. She also managed data intelligence for HCSC (Blue Cross Blue Shield of TX/IL/OK/NM).
George holds a master's degree in public health from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston; a graduate certificate in Statistics and Economic Data Analysis from the University of Texas, Dallas. She lives in Dallas with her husband and two children.
Dr. Franklin Baumann brings a wealth of medical and industry experience to SmartLight Analytics as co-founder and chief medical officer.
For more than eleven years, Dr. Baumann served as a medical director for United Healthcare, one of the largest insurance carriers in the country, where he acted as a Care Guidelines Specialist (Utilization Management) as well as an MD expert in post-service pre-payment claim reviews. He also served as the CMO of Emdeon (now Change Healthcare) overseeing all clinical activities of the medical fraud and abuse Special Investigations Unit. He has extensive experience as a consultant who focuses on all aspects of medical oversight.
Additionally, Dr. Baumann spent several years in practice as a surgeon performing general, vascular, thoracic, and trauma surgery in the Chicagoland area. He has worked directly with patients and review boards seeing both sides of what it means to be responsible for the care and well-being of a sick individual as well as the system delivering that care.
Dr. Baumann completed his general surgery residency at Rush Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Medical Center in Chicago earning the Senior Surgery Resident Trauma Award at Cook County Hospital and the Junior Surgery Resident Top Teaching Award. Before completing medical school at Rush Medical College he earned an MS in medical physics from Rush Graduate College and a BS in physics from Illinois Institute of Technology.
Dr. Baumann is the founder and CEO of AppriseMD. He lives in Illinois with his wife and four children.
Bill Young brings a wealth of knowledge, including 20 years of federal health care fraud investigative experience, to the SmartLight Analytics mission of helping self-funded employers reduce health care spending by identifying and eliminating fraud, waste, and abuse in claims. Young spent 21 years with HHS/OIG supervising and conducting criminal and civil investigations of waste, fraud and abuse in Medicare and Medicaid programs. He has comprehensive knowledge of investigative techniques, best practices and HHS Compliance Guidance.
He has a law degree from Saint Louis University and served as an adjunct instructor at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Glynco, GA. He served as Lead Special Agent assigned to white-collar/healthcare fraud investigations for HHS for seven years. He spent 13 years as Assistant Special Agent in Charge of the HHS Office of Inspector General Office of Investigations supervising and conducting criminal, civic and administrative investigations of waste, fraud, and abuse related to HHS programs including Medicare and Medicaid. His team of investigators produced 357 criminal convictions and civil monetary recoveries in excess of $334 million. He also served eight years as a Special Agent.

B2B Technology Chief Executive Officer Ernie Cote serves as the SmartLight Analytics Advisory Chair helping guide the company and its mission.
Mr. Cote has broad leadership experience in B2B technology companies including serving as CEO for Vertical Nerve, guiding the company from a regional digital agency to a nationally recognized digital analytics firm recognized by Google as Premium Analytics Partner and Reseller. After navigating a successful sale of the company to A.H. Belo Corporation (NYSE: AHC), he was recruited to lead Chemical Info, a subscription-based provider of supply chain data to the chemical and pharmaceutical industry. During his tenure, the company experienced growth in new sales, renewal sales, cash flow and EBITDA margins.
Mr. Cote lectures at Baylor University School of Business, is a Vistage’s CEO Peer Advisory, a mentor at tech incubator Tech Wildcatters, and serves on the National Board of The Admin Awards honoring administrative assistants. Ernie is a recipient of the Better Business Bureau’s Torch Award for Business Ethics.
Copper Mobile Co-founder, President and Executive Chairman Arvind Sarin is the strategic advisor for SmartLight Analytics. His experience leading the enterprise-centric mobile development firm which helps companies solve business challenges using cutting-edge mobile solutions brings a valuable partnership to SmartLight. Mr. Sarin consults regularly with executive leadership from his worldwide customers – SiriusXM, Westinghouse, VISA, Verizon, US Army, CISCO, eBay, Electric, Ciena, Texas Health Resources – to help create mobile road maps and strategy. He focuses on ROI-based and productivity-related enterprise apps that make business sense.
Prior to starting Copper Mobile, he ran the mobile division for a Dallas-Chennai based software-outsourcing company and spent three years at Fujitsu Network Communications in software development. Mr. Sarin received a Master of Science degree in electrical engineering from Texas A&M University and an MBA from The University of Texas at Austin.
Vispi Jilla is the founder and CEO of an independent consulting & advisory firm serving companies in the energy space. Mr. Jilla serves as principal advisor to SmartLight Analytics using his more than 20 years of financial management, operations and strategic consulting experience to help guide the company as it grows.
Mr. Jilla has worked in senior finance and operations roles in energy space. Most recently, Mr. Jilla served as the SVP Finance and CFO at a crude oil marketing and trading firm, Jamex Marketing, LLC. Prior to that he was the SVP Finance and CFO at Bridger Logistics, LLC, a private equity-backed crude logistics company which was sold to a publicly traded Master Limited Partnership in 2015. He also served as director of economics and planning at Alon USA Energy, Inc., where he oversaw corporate finance activities, mergers and acquisitions. He also served as management and turnaround consultant for KPMG Consulting, Alix Partners and Mesirow Financial.
Chintan Sutaria is the Founder and CEO of CalcuQuote, a B2B SaaS business, where he applies his industry and leadership skills towards creating a more connected electronics supply chain. Through CalcuQuote, Chintan gained experience with taking the technology startup from idea to scale, eventually leading to a successful sale of the company to Elisa Oyj (HEL: ELISA.HE). Prior to working in electronics, Chintan was a consultant with Deloitte and Ernst & Young where he worked with Fortune 500 cleints on business process and complex system implementation. Chintan received a Bachelors of Science degree in Business Administration with a advanced study in entrepreneurship, management consulting and corporate strategy.
